The library is currently in the process of updating the Whitefish Pilot Index link. We appreciate your patience. The Whitefish Pilot microfilm from 1904 is available as is the microfilm reader. If you know the date of the information you need we can easily access the article.
Our Last Summer Event – Parks for Toddlers
Miss Mary will be at James Bakke Nature Reserve (601 West 7th St.) at 11 a.m. this morning for our final toddler event of the summer. We’ll enjoy this park’s 1/4 mile nature loop with “specimen bracelets” to gather whatever sparks our interest and learn about James Bakke, the artist who once lived here.
Hint: check the air quality to see if you and your family are comfortable being outside. Here’s a good link: Montana DEQ Air Quality

Alpine Theatre Project in the Back Yard
What are these kids doing? They’re enjoying direction from Luke Walrath of ATP; specifically “make your face as big as you can.” Soon after they were running scenes from a popular children’s book.
This picture is from ATP’s first visit to the Library in 2019, and we’re excited to have them back again this year. Join us in the library’s back yard on Thursday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m. for a little taste of theatre, a la ATP.
Paving the Way for Meals on Wheels
Our Meals on Wheels road is filling up with cobblestones!
Each cobblestone placed on our mural’s road, which leads from Whitefish Community Center to houses representing Meals-on-Wheels participants, means that Whitefish Credit Union will donate $1 to support Meals on Wheels.
For each row that our Summer Reading Challenge readers fill out on their reading log, they receive a cobblestone sticker to place on the road. And they have been packing the road with cobblestones! You can see how close they have are to the $500 mark at the end of the road!
Thanks to Whitefish Credit Union for sponsoring our readers, and thanks to Whitefish Community Center for making this service available in Whitefish!
Sing-a-long with Deidre!
When was the last time you had the chance to sing-a-long with a real professional musician? North Valley Music School’s Deidre Corson is bringing her guitar to the library for a family sing-a-long! Remember Deidre from previous instrument petting zoos at the library? All are welcome to join us in the Library’s back yard for music and fun on Thursday, July 15, at 10:30 a.m.
