Whitefish Library Policies

2021. Animals in the Library.

Animals are not permitted in the Whitefish Community Library, except for the two (2) reasons listed in this policy. The exclusion of animals from the building is based on a concern for the safety of all library patrons, and the need to maintain a quiet, contemplative environment. The two (2) exceptions to this rule are:

1) service animals, as defined by Federal law. That definition is as follows: “service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability.” If the service animal disrupts the quiet and safety of the Library for other users, the owner and the dog will be asked to leave the premises.

2) animals that are brought into the building as part of a program or event sponsored by the Whitefish Community Library.
