Whitefish Library Policies

2024. Special Non-Library Event Use Policy

The primary purpose of the Whitefish Community Library (WCL) is to provide a quiet opportunity to browse and check out materials, hot spots, laptops and tablets, and to provide quiet study workspaces and computer availability.

WCL is supportive of special events on adjacent property, and we ask that they be planned in order to minimize disruption and inconvenience for library users. Concerns include, but are not limited to patron accessibility, courier service, patron parking, restroom usage and noise.

Applicants for special events must consider the hours of operation of WCL and use of dedicated 2-hour “library only” parking area. Adequate and trash receptacles and restroom facilities or signage directing attendees to public restrooms are expected to be provided by event planners.

WCL reserves the right to enforce the 2-hour “library only “parking area designated by the City of Whitefish with additional barricades and/or signage when necessary. WCL will work in cooperation with Whitefish Police Department Parking Enforcement and the Whitefish Fire Department when necessary to ensure parking lot safety and accessibility to the fire lane.

Approved by the Whitefish Community Library Board of Trustees on October 12, 2022.
