Whitefish Library Policies

2024. Special Event Use Policy

The primary purpose of the Whitefish Community Library is to provide a quiet study and workspace; an opportunity to browse and check out materials and availability of computers.

Although special events are welcome on adjacent property, they must be planned to minimize disruption and inconvenience for users of the library. Concerns may include, but are not limited to courier service, parking, restrooms and noise.

Consideration must be made for the hours of operation of the Whitefish Community Library (WCL) and use of the dedicated 2-hour parking area. Adequate restrooms facilities and trash receptacles must be provided by the applicant.

Once an application has been received by the City of Whitefish the City may require the applicant to secure a letter of support from the WCL Trustees. If so, the applicant must submit a written request to the WCL Board of Trustees for review, outlining their event. The applicant may be invited to a Board meeting for further discussion or clarification. The Board will notify the applicant within one month if the request in approved. If the request is approved, library staff may be able to provide support to make the event run smoothly.

Approved by the Whitefish Community Library Board of Trustees on August 14, 2019
