A new season of Storytime is happening! “Winter Recess” is you and your preschool child’s time to get out of the house, get eyes away from the screen, and get moving.
Winter Recess starts at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 19. The week after will be Thanksgiving – no Winter Recess – and we’ll resume December 3rd.
The focus of this storytime is the exploration of Montana’s winter outdoors, and we’ll do this with books, activities, and each other. Activities will depend on the weather – please dress in layers to keep as warm and dry as possible. We will make every effort to be out whatever the weather because the Winter recess motto is: “If you choose not to find joy in the snow, you will have less joy in your life but still the same amount of snow.” If we must cancel, notices will appear on Facebook, whitefishlibrary.org, and via Storytime Families email. (If you would like to get on that email list, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org).
We’ll have several plans ready so that we can take advantage of whatever weather arrives on Winter Recess mornings. Here are some of the things we hope to do this winter:
Build a bird-feeding station that can be seen from inside the library
Make snow sculptures
Build a snow slide
Explore frozen bubbles
Have a Winter picnic
